You raise a great point. Everyone needs their purpose. And that purpose must have difficulties or it will not provide fulfillment.

People’s purposes 50 years ago were different than most people’s purpose today and it is constantly being redefined.

For the old school, some traditional jobs will still be available where they can earn the variable UBI on top of their Base UBI. For the new school, they can focus their efforts and energy on being influencers or the best gamer on the planet and live off their Base UBI which they deserve for content creation.

We will still need firefighters, police officers, judges, religious leaders, criminal attorneys, etc. and other positions that AI and robots can’t replace. People who take the extra effort for these positions will be rewarded.

Some people will prefer to stay at home, scroll through their phones and watch the infinite millions of hours of streaming content. They won’t have to do the menial jobs such as data entry, cashiers, or fast food work that offer little purpose.

For the record, I’m not advocating for this system. It sounds awful. But at the current rate, the wealth going to the tech leaders and shareholders will drain the masses out and this may be a better alternative than mass outrage by hungry, bored, and frustrated people.
