Why You Really Shouldn’t Worry About The National Debt
In a world commoditizing attention, it makes little to no sense to worry about something as insignificant as your country’s national debt. We should invest collective anxiety on important topics such as Olympic boxer gender, Justin Timberlake’s DUI charges, and the catastrophe that is Boeing.
In college, I took some introductory courses about global religions, so I consider myself somewhat of an expert on all things religious-related. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’m at a Dr. Phil level of expertise, but I’m confident that I’m more knowledgeable than 50% of people reading this. Now that I’ve established my credentials, I’ll continue with my introduction.
Buddhism's basic premise is that we live in a world filled with endless desires, and this unquenchable desire is the root of suffering. For example, we are all familiar with the story about the rich and famous people who seemingly have everything but are tragically lonely, unhappy, and depressed. Billionaires continue coveting money and growing their wealth piles larger, and beautiful people are constantly seeking perfection by modifying their looks with plastic surgery.
