Why you need to be more excited about Metaverse than art NFTs
The experts are talking. And they are big on experiences. They tell us experiences are the keys to fulfillment and happiness. More happiness is created by experiences, not owning goods. I tend to agree with the experts on this one. I’m much more nostalgic about my first trip to Hawaii than I am about any car that I’ve owned.
How many people have great stories about an overpriced piece of art or a watch/purse/outfit that truly impacted their life? We read about older people regretting missing out on experiences as they await life’s closing bell. Maybe they missed their children growing up or never made it to Europe or got to try surfing. But it’s not too often people regret buying a “thing.”
I’ve already staked my claim regarding art NFTs. I’m not interested in collecting art (digital or physical) and don’t want to own something to join a club. I believe the art NFT market is grossly manipulated and the barrier to entry is too low. I admit I may be wrong and, thus far, I have been wrong. However, I’m not a fan of the narrative for artistic NFTs.
