Is Bitcoin Too Complicated For Women?
The amount of women owning crypto jumped to 30% in 2024 from 18% in 2023. Still, it means that 70% of crypto owners are men, nearly three out of every four. Why is this?
When I was a kid, video games were mostly geared toward boys. Perhaps there were some gamer girls from the 80s and 90s, but I didn’t know any of them growing up. We had a Nintendo in my house, and for a brief moment, my mom got addicted to Tetris. And I remember my sisters enjoying arcade games like Ms. Pac-Man. When Street Fighter II mania hit, I rarely saw girls in line putting their quarters on the screen to play the winner.
For decades, video games were considered a male-dominated hobby; today, 48% of gamers are female. So what changed? Did girls and women suddenly become good at games and, therefore, become more interested? Have advertisers and marketers changed their focus to a larger female audience? Are games now more inclusive towards women by having female characters? Has the social aspect of gaming provided by improved technology and accessibility made it more attractive for women to game than before?
