That’s rough. Getting scammed out of your own money is painful, but bringing in others (especially family and friends) really increases the feelings of guilt and shame. It’s too bad you had to go through that. On the other hand, it sounds like you became a more empathic and prepared person. Hopefully, 20 years later, that balances out some of the tragedy.
