If you buy a Tesla today, are you supporting the anti-abortion movement?
Luckily, I have met women that I love and appreciate in my life. As much as I try understanding anti-abortion rhetoric, I can’t grasp the idea of taking a woman’s right to her body and her choices away from her. I want to share upfront that my position is pro-choice so that you understand where I am coming from.
With that said, my wife has always wanted a Tesla Model X. Where we live, a lot of other families have Model X’s, Model S’s, Model Y’s, Model 3’s and drive them with a badge of honor.
I am curious if I now have a better reason for my wife the next time that she says that she wants a Tesla. As you probably know, Elon Musk moved Tesla to Texas in 2020. You are also probably aware that Texas signed a law banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy. I find it ironic that a state that won’t make its constituents wear a mask to control a pandemic is comfortable making women give birth to children they don’t want to have.
Tesla has said that they are going to hire over 10,000 people this year to work in their Texas Gigafactory. These employees will command salaries that will primarily be spent in Texas. Additionally, if Tesla has to pay any sort of state taxes (I’m not familiar with Texas tax law), this will go towards the Texas government.
