How to better understand Crypto by applying the 4 universal elements

Greek philosophers believed the universe is comprised of 4 elements: water, earth, air, and fire. This philosophy was so sound that for over 2000 years medicine, science, and thought was based upon these ideals. Even today, most people know the four elements even though our scientific understanding is not based upon them.

Have you ever tried explaining crypto to someone new to the space? Have you ever tried compartmentalizing it so that you can gain a better understanding? It’s easy to tie your thoughts into knots and have your ideas travel in mazes that often wind up in dead ends. I know that I have run myself silly trying to identify how to understand and explain different crypto projects/assets/categories.

After much consideration, thinking, and a little bit of creativity, I have decided to understand the crypto universe as 4 different elements. Much like the Greeks who were able to categorize all matter with these distinctions, my goal is to categorize crypto assets in 4 different categories: Bitcoin, tools, financial, and entertainment. And while a specific crypto asset may fall in multiple categories, I believe the coin’s main narrative will fall under one of these categories.

So, here is my definition of the 4 elements of crypto. I’ll try to compare them to the Greek’s 4…
