A lot of us were under a spell of sorts prior to the pandemic. Now, we've had a chance to clear our heads. A lot of us have also had time to think, learn, and process what is going on in our lives and our world.
The statistic that I can't get out of my mind is that the richest 2200 people have more wealth than the 5 billion poorest people. Who needs that much wealth?
We have people like Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Donald Trump, and Jeff Bezos who barely pay any taxes. How many of the other 2200 aren't paying their share? Democrat or Republican, the issue is much higher than that.
These rich separate us into factions similar to how prisons have the inmates fight one another based upon ethnicity. It's a slight of hand trick to keep us from realizing that they are hoarding all of the wealth and pulling the strings (media, government, law, technology)
I think we all need to realize that neither democrats or republicans will save us. With increases in population, technology, and wealth inequality we need some new ideas to renew our purpose and make us want to participate again.
Some ideas to start: eliminate the two party system. Allow for multiple parties to have a voice and a pulpit. Limit fund raising from individuals/corporations for politicians. Cap politicians' earnings. Restrict lawmakers and their families from investing in individual stocks and only indexes. Hold political criminals accountable for their crimes (January 6). Create a healthcare system that is affordable and effective. Leave religion out of the public sector. Come to terms with gun control. Let women keep the right to their bodies. Eliminate the electoral college. Re-think the entire education system in the country. Eliminate stock buybacks and punish corrupt actors.
Sorry to go off on a tangent in my response. Thank you for the article. It really got me thinking and I can relate to a lot of what you have written.
