3 Must-See Emerging Technologies
My favorite Netflix show of all time is Black Mirror. Each unique episode covers different aspects of how new technology could impact humanity. The ideas and subjects covered are creative, ironic, and nearly all episodes are dark and dystopian. What I love best about the show is that it makes you think. You can’t passively scroll through your phone or fall asleep midway through a Black Mirror episode and feel satisfied. In addition to challenging me mentally, I always appreciate the diverse ideas and interpretations the writers have about technology. And while the show is overwhelmingly dark, I appreciate how it has hit the mark with many predictions.
Black Mirror ended in 2019. Since then, I have been on the lookout for new pieces of technology in an attempt to perceive the impact they will have on our lives. I looked heavily at Elon Musk’s Neuralink, a chip that he is hoping to have implanted in human brains. Not a big fan, I’m both saddened and relieved that 15 out of 23 chip-implanted monkeys died after their Neuralink operations. I don’t think the world is ready for microchips in our brains.
